Asilomar Conference Grounds Update
An update on the 10-year, multi-million dollar restoration plan at Asilomar Conference Grounds
Delaware North Companies (DNC) Parks & Resorts became Asilomar Conference GroundsSM concessionaire and caretaker in 1997, an aggressive 10-year, multi-million dollar plan launched significant improvements and historic renovations to this acclaimed beachfront retreat.
This completed restoration project was a successful cooperative effort between Delaware North and California State Parks. "DNC genuinely cares about the parks and environmental preservation," says former Asilomar State Park Superintendent Stephanie Price. "They see the big picture. They're not afraid to invest."
Restoration work at Merrill Hall, Chapel, Crocker Dining Hall, and the Hearst Social Hall included seismic retrofits, historic roof restorations, accessibility improvements, new exterior wall shingles, fresh paint and the installation of historically accurate new seating in Chapel custom made from historic photographs.
